SCOUT SUNDAY

Oakland United Methodist Church  will recognize Scout Sunday in February

Oakland United Methodist Church is home to Cub Scout Pack 15, Boy Scout Troop 1, Girl Scout Troop 153 including Daisy's, Brownies and Jr Girl Scouts, hosts the Explorer Scout Youth Committee Advisory Group and is looking at adding an Venturing Scout Group.

Religion in Scouting The fact that more than one half of all Scouting units are chartered to Religious Organizations reveals clearly that Scouting has a real contribution to make to these organizations.

Scouting supports the spiritual view of life that underlies the teaching of all denominations and faiths. Any boy or leader who would be a member must profess a belief in God and promise to do his best to fulfill the spiritual ideals of scouting.

Scouting helps boys put into practice some of the basic truths they are taught by their parents and religious leaders. They learn by experience to give, to share, to help others, to assume responsibility and to understand the values of personal integrity.

Whether you and your family have a Church home or not, you are invited and encouraged to attend Scout Sunday at Oakland United Methodist Church.
If you are looking for a Church home, our doors are always open. Oakland United Methodist Church offers Sunday School for children and adults every Sunday from 9:30 to 10:15. Worship service is from 10:30 to 11:30.
In addition, the Church offers a youth group which provides many opportunities and experiences for our children and an after school tutoring program serving children in and around the Oakland community. Vacation Bible school is offered in the Summer and a reading preparation program is offered before school begins in the fall.
