Pack 15 Pinewood Derby Rules for 2006 are being revised. If you have suggestions for rules, please submit them at any Pack Planning Meeting .
Following are the rules used for the derby in 2001.
FOR ADULTS AND FAMILIES OF CUB SCOUTS
Adults, brothers and sisters of scouts that would like to cut and race a car will be welcome to when the scout races have been completed.  Please register your car at weigh-in.

Pack 15 Pinewood Derby Rules

1. Derby is open to all Pack 15 Scouts - Tigers through Webelo II.

2. All entrants must use the kits supplied by the Scout Office.

3. All entrants must design and cut a car. Any car not designed and cut and only has the tires mounted will not be allowed to race for trophy, nor will they be allowed to affect the outcome of the individual races.

4. Cars must be built to the specifications listed in the Pinewood Derby car kit. If anyone receives a car kit that does not contain the specs. contact den leader or cub master so that one can be obtained for you. Not knowing is not an excuse.

5. All cars must be weighed in the morning of the race and no adjustments can be made after final weigh in. Scale at the race will be the official scale.

6. Any car that is too heavy will not be allowed to race for trophy or affect the outcome of the individual race.

7. All work on the car must be completed prior to arriving at the race site. Adjustments to the weight of the car will be allowed.

8. Cars must have four wheels on the track.

9. Races will be run den by den first. We will find first, second and third place in each den (Tigers, Bears, etc). Webelo I has two dens so they will be combined for a single winner. Then the winners from each den will race for the championship trophy. After the champion is decided the second place car in the den that produced the champion will be allowed to race for the second place trophy. Same for the third place trophy.

10. Cars damaged during the race will be reinspected and a decision will be made as to allow repairs.

11. Any questions that come up during the race not covered here will be resolved by the cub master, assistant cub master, one den leader chosen at random and one parent in the audiance chosen at random.

12. The Scout and an adult partner should build the cars. Decisions are made by the adult partner as to what each individual child is capable of doing as concerning the use of different tools. So there is no requirement as to how much involvement the child has to have but we ask that you remember that the more the child has to do with building the car, the more sense of accomplishment he will have, the more fun he will have and the more he will learn.
